Second day
Today me and Mahendra were due to travel to Pokhora but
because of the Banda we couldn’t. Also Amy was not meant to be staying at the
hotel but instead travelling to Saptagandaki orphanage but as no-one was at the
airport to collect her we took her with us, eventually someone came to collect
her from the hotel, but it took most of the day. I’ve spoken to her since and
she has settled in well and all is going OK. So after seeing Amy off we went to
have my first Daal Baat, which is rice with curried lentils and different
combinations of vegetables and pickles. It tastes amazing.
That night we stayed with some of Mahendra’s family in the
north (I think) of Kathmandu and spent the evening on the roof with his family
and neighbours drinking some roksi (a kind of rice wine, but I feel a much
higher percentage than normal wine).
From the roof you could see part of the Kathmandu valley, which is stunning,
although I forgot to get a picture; however, I may get another chance later on.
